SafeGunTravel.com Launches — a new startup for people to safely travel with their firearms

We're very excited about the new startup we recently launched for one of our clients, SafeGunTravel.com. With 40 million+ firearm owners in the United States, many stand at serious risk to travel without being informed of the constantly changing compliance laws for firearm travel in each state. SafeGunTravel.com provides driving directions and a map supplemented with current state gun laws and CCW reciprocity information for each state in the traveler's route. When our client (a guy with serious law enforcement and military credentials) brought us this idea, we were surprised to find it didn't already exist as there's such an obvious need for so many upstanding American citizens. This project was particularly exciting because we knew it had the potential to save a lot of innocent lives from being subjected to serious criminal charges over sometimes-trivial compliance mistakes. From a technical standpoint, it was also an intriguing project because we were tasked with making legal statutes comprehensible in a reciprocity calculation algorithm, integrating with GIS (geographic information system) API services, and ultimately providing similar output to MapQuest or Google Maps with firearm laws overlaid in a PDF report. In just about a month, SafeGunTravel.com is already getting steady traction and the attention of many large companies in the firearms industry.
